Grapevine

$6.00 USD

Grapevine is a fun to knit sock pattern that melds together my love for twisted stitches and cables, using these techniques to create an eye-catching arrow texture that makes its way across the instep of the sock and back of the leg. The arrow texture is gently nestled between garter sections, which is where you’ll also find our size adjustments for the pattern – making this 8-sized toe-up and cuff-down pattern very size-inclusive.

The pattern has been reverse engineered, so the arrows will point up the sock regardless of whether you’re working toe-up or cuff-down. However; if you’re feeling adventurous and would prefer arrows point down the sock instead, it’s quite easy to swap things and I’ve included notes on how to do so.

Worked in the round, Grapevine contains both cuff-down and toe-up written directions and a chart for the pattern stitch. The pattern has instructions for a short row heel, but you may substitute whatever heel you enjoy using (links included for alternatives).

The pattern is written for the magic loop method for knitting socks; however, the design could be worked on double-pointed needles or mini-circulars instead should you prefer (ensure you denote your instep stitches with extra markers – so you don’t miss the placement of the heel or toe shaping).

This sock pattern shines well with solid, semi-solid, lightly variegated/speckled yarns, or lighter colored stripes. Picking an appropriate yarn for this project will ensure you don’t lose the fun texture achieved in the first section, nor have a yarn that distracts from the lovely cables you’ll create.
